6 Months of Grief Project: Day 118

Angels

This is Day 118 of my #6MonthsOfGrief Project. To learn more about this practice, feel free to visit Day One, where I explain this project in more detail.

Sometimes only the unconditional love of an animal friend can heal. My late husband had a very tight bond with our boy cat, Dasher. He loved Vixen, Dash's sister, but he and Dash had this rough and tumble boy energy with each other. My husband encouraged Dash's hunting, wrestled with him and let him rub his little cat mug all over his beard. When my husband passed away, Dasher would stand on his side of the bed and howl. This would send me into sobbing tears.

Dash has adapted. Now he is my number one protector, bringing me gophers to eat, snuggling me in the night, herding me around when I am home — always keeping an eye on me. He is my guardian angel.
