6 Months of Grief Project: Day 96

Portals

This is Day 96 of my #6MonthsOfGrief Project. To learn more about this practice, feel free to visit Day One, where I explain this project in more detail.

The portals between worlds have never seemed more open and yet more closed off. People in my life tell me that they feel him, daily. Friends tell me regularly of dreams they had of him, or of "signs" they received from him. I rarely feel my husband in way, although there have been moments. Like when I saw the outline of an old bumper sticker on a car that looked exactly like his face, or when I look at the clock and it almost always says "11:11" or "5:55" or "2:22."

What I do regularly feel is time passing, and as it does, I feel the empty place he left inside me. It is a vast chasm. It is a lush valley. It is a portal.
